Description

In their new installation The Isle, artists Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi will focus on the contemporary circumstances of Kish, a coral island located in the Persian Gulf, eighteen kilometers from the southern coast of the Iranian mainland. At the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, the two artists, partners in the collaborative team called Pages, will present a historical re-interpretation of this island.

This exhibition features architectural models, video documentation, and appropriated photographic materials to offer alternative readings on the incongruities of Kish as a luxury zone within both the historical and current socio-political context of Iran.
