LA Opera: Hansel & Gretel and L'incoronazione
di Poppea
|
Join the Los Angeles Opera,
the United States' fourth largest opera company, in their December shows! Catch performances
of Hansel & Gretel, a playful production
of the classic children’s fairy tale,
and L'incoronazione di Poppea, a story about
a shrewd and scheming Poppea who will stop
at nothing in her ruthless quest to share the
throne with Emperor Nero. Performances are at the Dorothy
Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center.

This concert showcases diverse Middle
Eastern artists, including the Palestinian
groups N.O.M.A.D.s
and The Philistines, Excentrik, the Legitimates
and DJ Myson, with a special performance
by Tunisian rai vocalist MC Rai and guest
vocalist Zera Vaughan, also from Tunisia.
Check out The Arab Street, Hip Hop, Rai &
Funk for Peace on December 9th at Cafe-Club
Fais Do-Do.

Echoes of Joy - The Burbank Chorale, under the direction of Mikhail Shtangrud,
present their annual Holiday concert at St.
Marks Episcopal church in Glendale. Win a pair of
tickets to this concert featuring John Rutter's “Gloria” and “Cantus” and
traditional holiday favorites from around the world.

The MeshugaNutcracker - The
Keshet Chaim Dance Ensemble offers tickets to this great
show for both Jew and non-Jew alike. This critically-acclaimed
original musical celebrating all
things Chanukah is a blending of Tchaikovsky's beautiful
score with witty lyrics and traditional Jewish songs.
It is a non-stop cavalcade of Chanukah fun!
Tickets are valid for Sunday, December 17th at 2:00 pm.

At this "pint-sized" version
of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade™, children decorate their favorite set
of wheels using flowers,
pennants, and ribbons. This colorful gaggle of vehicles
then parades up and down South
Lake Avenue in Pasadena.

| C.I.C.L.E. (Cyclists Inciting Change
thru LIVE Exchange), a local bicyclist advocacy
group, is assisting in the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic's annual drive for toys, gloves, hats, and socks for families in need. This year they host this event to help round up toys and warm clothing. |
