Celebrating the New Year
With the new year coming up fast, this week's theme features a variety of celebrations to satisfy the whole family! This year, instead of worrying about parking on a busy holiday, take advantage of Metro's free fare program for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. January 6th is proving to be an exciting day as well: discover what Chinatown has to offer or check out a free performance at the Music Center!

at the Music Center

World City features internationally renowned artists in admission-free performances on select Saturdays at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. To complement the performances, the Music Center offers family workshops in the adjacent Blue Ribbon Garden. Catch the first performance of the new year on January 6th featuring Melody of China and Hsiao Hsi Yuan Puppet Theater.

Chinatown Tour |

Reminder:
Special Holiday Free Fares on the Metro
|

Don't forget that Metro is offering a special Holiday Free Fare Program for all Metro Bus and Rail lines operating on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
This program will be in effect between 9pm and 2am only on the nights and early morning hours of Dec 24th-25th and Dec 31st-Jan 1st.

Opening Reception - Strange New World
On January 12th the Santa Monica Museum of Art's opening party for Strange New World: Art and Design from Tijuana/Extraño (Nuevo Mundo: Arte y diseño desde Tijuana) celebrates Tijuana's cutting-edge electronic music scene with contributions from some of the city's top DJs and VJs. There will be music from globo-pop master DJ Rafa Dro, Radio Global mixologist DJ Wero, and cumbia masher DJ Chucuchu, plus the super-charged demolitions of Tijuana's most in-demand visual collagist, VJ Sal.

Marina del Rey New Year's Eve Fireworks

Beginning at 11:59pm & 30 seconds, one firework will be shot into the air each second from the south jetty in Marina del Rey, counting down to 12 midnight. When the clock strikes midnight a fireworks show will burst across the night sky. The fireworks can be seen from almost anywhere in the Marina.
