Description

PYO Gallery LA announces Alienation of Affections, an exhibition of paintings by Jun Jie Xu and Zhu Xian Wei. The exhibition dates are July 21 thru September 1, 2012. A reception will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 5 to 7 pm.The painted artworks of Chinese artists Jun Jie Xu and Zhu Xian Wei are presented at Pyo Gallery in a joint exhibition that explores the perspective of two artists, whom like a deserted spouse, reflect upon the collapse of their enchantment. The works focus on the social and civic upheavals in China, contrasting the absurd disparities of their imagined utopia, with the pressures of modern life. Jun Jie Xus picturesque landscapes are layered with apocalyptic uncertainty, wherein a diving helmet becomes a necessity just to breathe. As a compliment, Zhu Xian Weis works center on displacement of personal freedoms, the nebulous space occupied by desire, and the lonely depths of the human heart. The black and white works offer a vision of the future, which the estranged duo believes has arrived early to China.
