Six wry dance pieces that utilize the L.A. public transit system as a vehicle for expressing human drama. Benson’s seductive choreography fuses Jazz, Ballet, and Modern dance technique to explore the incessant instinct to "get somewhere" only to realize you’ve arrived at the place you began.
Following last year’s successful collaboration on "Bathroom Follies," Benson, Gonzalo and their team of dancers have again joined forces to observe haphazard public communities and the individual’s role within them. In "Go Metro...," these performers weave a new metropolitan lore directly inspired by the mundane and extraordinary scenarios and individuals experienced within the L.A. metro system. The L.A. metro system, already a vast, surreal landscape of the comic and the tragic, provides an ideal setting to explore the idea of collective mobility, whether social or emotional.
