McGroarty Arts Center is committed to providing affordable art instruction and scholarships to children and adults; to promoting the fine, literary and performing arts through instruction; to providing a venue in which artists can display or perform their work.The McGroarty Arts Center is designated as Historic Cultural Monument #63 of the City of LA. Originally the private residence of Poet Laureate John S. McGroarty, this 1923 stone building sits on 12 acres of natural chaparral and oak forest. As the only arts venue in Sunland-Tujunga, the center plays a pivotal role in the cultural lives of local residents. The center is best known for its ceramics program and annual gallery show of ceramic artists in June. McGroarty Arts Center produces or hosts 25 events and 300 classes each year.
