From its humble beginnings in 1781, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument has served as a symbol of L.A.'s rich history, culture and diversity. As the oldest section of the city, it is the site where Los Angeles was founded. Today, El Pueblo consists of twenty seven historic buildings on 44 acres, a beautiful outdoor plaza area and the world famous Olvera Street Mexican marketplace. Each building tells an exciting story about the people of the different ethnic groups who settled here. Free docent-led tours by Las Angelitas available Tuesday thru Saturday starting 10am, 11am, and 12pm. Call (213)628-1274 for reservations or check out their website at www.lasangelitas.org.
