Three large and colorful chandeliers by the artist Therman Statom hover over the escalators and landings in the cathedral like space of the Bradley Wing Atrium in the Central Library. These playful chandeliers humanize the otherwise intimidating height of the architecturally austere atrium. Each chandelier is covered in painterly strokes from a light palette, making the immense chandeliers seem to float in the air. Whimsical subjects such as carrots, birds, and angels are perched on each chandelier according to different themes such as "Natural", "Technological" and "Ethereal".
