You'll get a great view of Four Arches from the Wells Fargo lobby near Le Dandy. This work is partly Alexander Calder's homage to his father Alexander Sterling Calder. The CRA/LA approved the $250,000 commission to Calder. He created the design and maquette for Four Arches by working with architectural drawings and a model of the site. Four Arches was installed while the office tower was being built and was aligned by the landscape architect of the site, Peter Walker. The sculpture was made of carbon plate steel and painted an orange red, often indentified as “Calder Red.”
