The Pacific Alliance Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in Los Angeles. It was built in 1868 to serve the city's French population and boasts a statue of Joan of Arc on the front lawn. Today, the hospital is run by enterprising Chinese doctors and serves the local Chinatown community.
