The Bilingual Foundation for the Arts (BFA) was founded in 1973 to by award-winning Mexican-American actress Carmen Zapata, Cuban-born actress/director Margarita Galban and Argentinian-born artist Estela Scarlata to promote and celebrate the Hispanic culture. BFA provides training for theater artists, translates and presents Hispanic theater works, and produces bilingual theater for the general public.The mission of BFA is to serve communities by presenting classic Spanish language drama and contemporary plays to English- and Spanish-speaking audiences, thereby bringing awareness of the diversity of the Hispanic culture. Within this mission, the theater also provides educational resources and training opportunities for artists.
